5 Beautiful Ways To Curate Second Hand Into Your Space

We LOVE collecting and in fact have built a business on creating one-of-a-kind bridal pieces from vintage lace. Sustainability is an important part of linyage, but it’s also a priority in our homes. We choose to buy second hand as much as we can and contribute less waste… here are a few ways we’re doing just that!

1. Dishes

Mis-matched dishes are one of our FAVORITE things to collect. Curate your own unique collection of vintage dishes by choosing a solid color palette or mis-matched prints. I chose white dishes because they’re relatively easy to find and fit my home aesthetic. I look for single plates, bowls, cups, serve-wear or small sets when I’m antiquing and slowly build out the collection!

2. Storage

Does anyone else get super jazzed about a beautifully organized pantry?

Vintage Ball jars or other glass canisters are very handy to store dry goods.  Not only can you then buy in bulk and fill the jars, but you can easily see what you have and create an aesthetically pleasing cupboard!

3. Home Accessories

Mirrors, lighting, vases - vintage decor and styling options are endless and will only make your space more unique! And they are most likely better quality than what you’d pick up at your home goods store.

Note : one can never have too many chandeliers!

4. Artwork

Vintage prints, old signs, maps…SO many beautiful options to add unique style into your home! I don’t know about you, but I could sift through a box of old postcards or a drawer full of prints for hours… it’s always tough to narrow down what’s coming home.

5. Furniture

Look for chairs with good bones and consider having them reupholstered. Bonus points if you use vintage fabric! I used a vintage chenille blanket on this bad boy…

Solid wood furniture can be refinished and given second life. I have furniture from my grandparents that my family sanded down and stained. It feels really special to keep those heirlooms in the family and give well made pieces longevity!
